Alyssa Casamassa
NYS Certified Dance Teacher PreK-12

About Me!

Dance has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I began dancing at three years old and quickly found a passion for movement, performance, and creativity that has continued to grow throughout my life. Growing up on Long Island, NY I spent most of my childhood in the studio training in a variety of styles including contemporary, jazz, lyrical, ballet, hip hop, modern, tap, and musical theatre.

Wanting to turn my passion into a career, I decided to continue my education at Hofstra University, where I studied Dance Education while pursuing my New York State K–12 teaching certification. Throughout my time at Hofstra, I continued developing not only as a performer and choreographer, but also as an educator dedicated to creating meaningful and creative experiences for students through dance.

Dance has shaped who I am, and I teach because I want my students to experience that same sense of confidence, expression, and belonging that dance gave me. I want my students to understand why they move, what they’re expressing, and how their voice matters in the room. My classroom is a space where students are challenged, supported, and pushed to grow both technically and emotionally.

Having choreographed over 45 pieces over the course of the last seven years, and worked with dancers of all ages, I know that every student walks in with different strengths and insecurities. My goal is to meet them where they are, build them up, and remind them that their movement has value.

As an educator, I value creativity and emotional connection in movement. My goal is always to create a positive environment where dancers feel inspired to grow not only technically, but personally as well. â€‹More than anything, I want to create a classroom filled with discipline, creativity, and joy because dance isn’t just steps. It’s identity, resilience, and connection.
